Bucephalandra Strawberry is one of the rarest and most fascinating varieties, appreciated for its unique deep red tones that resemble ripe strawberries under water. Its leaves are elongated, slightly curved, with a glossy texture that intensifies under strong light. The central vein is often visible in a darker shade, creating a striking contrast. Unlike common Bucephalandra, this variety develops intense red pigmentation even in submerged growth, making it a true centerpiece in any aquascape.

Cultivation requires stable parameters: pH 5.5–6, GH 6–7, KH 2, conductivity 150–200 µS, and CO₂ around 20–30 ppm. Strong lighting (40–60 PAR at substrate level) will enhance the red coloration. A nutrient-rich substrate and complete fertilization (macro and micro) are essential to maintain growth and avoid deficiencies. Growth speed is slow compared to Rotala or Ludwigia, but slightly faster than ultra-compact Bucephalandra types.

This plant is sold as a mature, submerged-grown specimen (not in vitro), so it adapts immediately to the aquarium without melting. During the first weeks, it may adjust leaf shape and color to your conditions, then stabilizes and produces new growth.

Curiosity: Bucephalandra Strawberry is extremely rare because the intense red pigment is difficult to stabilize; it has taken years of selective cultivation to fix this trait. Pieces available are very limited.
