Eriocaulon sp. “Bahia Mini Taco” – 1 pc
Eriocaulon “Mini Taco” is a rare and highly decorative aquatic plant originating from Bahia, Brazil. It forms a compact rosette of bright green leaves with a distinctive curved and twisted shape, resembling small “tacos”. Its unusual appearance makes it an excellent premium accent plant for the foreground of high-tech aquascapes.
This is a demanding and relatively sensitive species. It grows best in soft, slightly acidic water and requires stable water parameters. Sudden changes in water chemistry should be avoided. Strong lighting, CO₂ injection and a nutrient-rich aquasoil are highly recommended for maintaining compact and healthy growth.
CARE & WATER PARAMETERS
• Difficulty: Advanced
• Growth rate: Slow
• Placement: Foreground / accent plant
• Approx. size: 3–5 cm
• Temperature: 20–26°C
• pH: 5.5–6.5
• KH: 0–3 dKH
• GH: 0–3 dGH recommended
• Water: Soft, slightly acidic
• Lighting: High, ideally 80+ PAR
• CO₂: High / required, around 30 ppm
• Substrate: Nutrient-rich aquasoil recommended
• Fertilisation: Regular macro and micronutrient supply
• Stability: Very important; avoid sudden changes in water parameters
CULTIVATION
Plant the specimen directly into a nutrient-rich substrate, making sure the roots are buried while the central crown remains above the substrate. Eriocaulon Mini Taco develops a substantial root system and benefits greatly from nutrients available at root level.
Strong lighting helps maintain its compact shape and characteristic curled leaves. A stable CO₂ supply of approximately 30 ppm is recommended. Soft water with very low carbonate hardness is particularly important for successful long-term cultivation.
Growth is generally slow. Once established, the plant may produce daughter rosettes around the crown. These can be carefully separated and replanted once sufficiently developed.
Because of its sensitivity to unstable conditions, hard water and sudden parameter changes, this plant is recommended for experienced aquarists with established high-tech planted aquariums.
