The stems stay relatively compact, making it suitable even for smaller aquascapes. It thrives with intense light, CO₂ injection (20–30 ppm), full macro and micro fertilization, and soft water (pH 5.5–6.0, GH 6–7, KH 2, conductivity 150–200 µS).

This plant is already fully grown, adapted to submerged form, and does not require any transition period. Growth is fast compared to most background plants.

Sie bildet lanzettliche, leicht gezähnte Blätter, die sich bei starker Beleuchtung und nährstoffreicher Versorgung von olivbraun zu tiefem Bordeauxrot verfärben. Die Stängel bleiben kompakt und eignen sich auch für mittelgroße Aquarien.
